SPRING and SUMMER brings to Silverton, Colorado, a vast array of activities for you to explore. Activities like theater productions, train rides, and the 4th of July. The 4th of July is considered one of the largest fireworks productions in the Nation. In 2009, Silverton had approximately 15,000 people in town to witness the fireworks display!

Silverton has nearby ghost towns, cemetery tours, mill and gold mine tours, along with mining competitions. The Alpine streams and lakes offer excellent cold water fishing, and the fly fishing is the best. People come from all over the world for bicycle races, alpine jeeping, ATV-ing and endurance runs. One such endurance run is the Hardrock 100 Mile Race.

Silverton celebrates many music festivals. Silverton has it's own small Brass Band performing in the middle of Greene Street, along with a professional Brass Band that meets once a year, and a Barbershop Quartet concert.

Some of Silverton's eateries sponsor the "Taste of Silverton" walk where you stroll from place to place sampling the special of the day with live music playing in the street. There are Museums, an old west jail, stage coach rides, and gunfights to entertain you.

For hikers, horse back riders and other single trail enthusiasts, there are many alpine lakes, birds, wildlife and wild flowers galore to explore... a real photographers dream! You can even schedule rafting trips from Silverton.

FALL and WINTER begins a completely different experience in Silverton. Some of which include holiday and winter festivities, a quilt show and sale, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and ice skating.

Some of the best extreme skiing and snowboarding (guided and unguided) happens on Silverton Mountain. During 2010, Shaun White, Olympic Gold Medalist, along with Redbull productions, trained on a special built half pipe near Silverton Mountain.

In town, Kendall Mountain is perfect for young families to enjoy a leisurely day of snow fun. Lessons are available upon request.

The San Juan Mountains of Silverton have lured other athletic celebrities, including Simon Dumont, Poor Boyz Productions, Warren Miller Films, Free Skier Magazine, 60 Minutes, ESPN, and Six Eleven Productions.

Silverton sponsors skijoring, an exhilarating sport with horses pulling skiers, dog sled racing, and snowmobiling right out our front door. Enjoy cross-country skiing, skate skiing, ice climbing, cat skiing, and heli-skiing.
